HOUSTON (AP) - Police have arrested two suspects in the investigation of $5 million worth of art and other items stolen from the mansion of attorney and Houston mayoral candidate Tony Buzbee.

Harris County jail records show 36-year-old Nicholas Johnson was being held Saturday on a charge of theft of more than $300,000. A co-defendant, 33-year-old Julian Franklin, was jailed on a burglary of a habitation charge.

Buzbee says he awoke Feb. 4 to find a burglar in his River Oaks home, grabbed a gun and fired at the fleeing man. Buzbee wasn't hurt.

A tipster reported some stolen items were offered for sale and help police locate the suspects. Online jail records didn't immediately list attorneys to speak for Johnson and Franklin, both held without bond.

Houston's mayoral election is Nov. 5.
