SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – A warning from the Cameron County Beach Patrol saying this is a dangerous time to be in the water.

They explained why cold fronts moving through the Rio Grande Valley bring risky surf conditions.

The first front of the season came through Monday; while it was small, experts say it doesn’t matter.

Any front will change the surf and bring dangerous conditions to both inexperienced and experienced swimmers.

The beach patrol chief says people need to pay attention to the flag warnings.
