ROMA – Crews are working to drain stagnant water out of Roma neighborhoods after the city was hit by heavy rainfall Thursday morning.

Officials say a lack of urbanized drainage and clogged ditches along Highway 83 does not allow water to drain properly.

KRGV’s Taylor Winkel reached out to Roma Assistant City Manager Freddy Guerra.

He says they will be working with the Texas Department of Transportation to improve drainage along the main road.
