WESLACO – President Donald Trump is making a monumental visit to the Rio Grande Valley and is expected to see the site for the proposed border wall.

The visit will take place Thursday, amid the partial government shutdown.

KRGV’s Taylor Winkel explains how the course of events led up to this shutdown.

Several things contributed to this shutdown, including the president announcing he won’t sign a bill without funding for the border wall, as well as consideration to declare a national emergency to use the military to build the wall.
