Fire Officials Say Lightning Sparked Blaze at Pharr Bank

UPDATE (4 p.m.): A lightning bolt is to blame for sparking a fire at a Lone Star Bank location in Pharr.

According to fire officials, around 10 a.m. Tuesday, people inside the building heard a loud bang and began to smell smoke.

Crews arrived on scene shortly after but had a hard time battling the flames because of strong winds.

No injuries were reported.

PHARR – Fire officials are investigating a fire high atop the Lone Star National Bank in Pharr.

The fire was called in just after several lightning strikes in the area.

The cause of the fire though is still not known.

It happened at the bank location on Ferguson Avenue and Expressway 281.

The road was closed off temporarily but is now reopen to traffic.
