BROWNSVILLE – A former kickball coach is facing nearly 50 years in prison after being convicted for sexual assault.

Last week, a Cameron County jury found Hector De Leon guilty of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old and 14-year-old.

The Cameron County District Attorney says the mother of the two girls was aware of the sexual assault but did not report the crime to authorities due to fear of retaliation. 

De Leon was sentenced to 45 years behind bars.
