MERCEDES – It’s November and the renovations for the Medranos’ home that started in February isn’t anywhere close to complete.

Esteban and Nora Medrano paid Loya’s Remodeling & Mobile Home Services $35,000 of the $55,000 it would take to remodel.

“I don’t live in my house. I pay rent, I pay storage for my furniture and that takes a big bite out of my salary,” says the husband. “It’s in the contract, eight or nine weeks, but eight or nine months? That’s something else.”

KRGV’s John Paul Barajas reached out to the owner of the company, Lee Roy Loya.

He declined an on-camera interview but was put in contact with the couple. The two parties compromised and Loya says their homes would be ready in three weeks.

Once the Medrano's filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the organization's spokesperson said the business was already in their system.
