MISSION – The International Boundary and Water Commission is planning maintenance on one of the Rio Grande Valley’s biggest floodways.

The Arroyo Colorado runs from Mission all the way to the Gulf.

IBWC wants the maintenance to prevent future flooding.

IBWC says this floodway was able to handle the capacity of the June floods.

A meeting was held Wednesday to get the local cities on board with this plan.
