RGV Residents in Federal Disaster Areas Eligible for Tax Relief
WESLACO – Rio Grande Valley residents who were in the areas declared a federal disaster during June’s flooding may be eligible for tax relief.
The IRS is extending any deadlines that fall between June 19 and Oct. 31 for residents in Hidalgo and Cameron counties.
The IRS also allows deductions for items lost in the flood.
The ‘casualty loss’ deduction covers items not covered by insurance or any other reimbursement.
