UPDATE (2/25):  Land surveyors will not be allowed at the historic La Lomita church after President Trump signed the Appropriations Bill.

The Appropriations Bill, passed on Feb. 15 , gives protection to the church.

Attorney David Garza explains the terms for the surveyors were worked out.

He says they will be allowed to survey land behind the Juan Diego Academy within the next year.

MISSION – A federal court hearing between the federal government and the Diocese of Brownsville took place Wednesday.

The Diocese of Brownsville attempted to block the government’s access to La Lomita in Mission.

The government was granted access to survey the land for the possible border wall site; attorneys representing the Dioceses say the fight isn’t over.

One of the lawyers representing the Dioceses says they will try to finish negotiations with the government this week.
