WESLACO – State leaders in Tamaulipas are increasing patrols on highways in and around Reynosa this week.

Typically, during Holy Week or Semana Santa, more people travel from Mexico to the U.S.

Tamaulipas officials say they’ll also set up temporary checkpoints on the highways between Reynosa and Monterrey as well as highways to San Fernando, southeast of Brownsville.

Additional patrols will keep watch on the Tamaulipas side of the Pharr International Bridge.
