HARLINGEN – Crews continue to work in Harlingen to clear out thousands of gallons of water that spilled onto the roadway near a busy intersection.

Traffic remains closed off on South Frontage Road, between Ed Carey Drive and Paso Real.

A farmer tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS they were working to irrigate a nearby field when their pipes burst, sending all the water onto Frontage Road.

Harlingen city crews are on the scene with tankers suctioning the water trying to clear the road.

No word as to how long it might take to reopen the road, but it seems they are almost complete clearing out the water.

Drivers are still being asked to avoid the area.
