Hidalgo Co. Sheriff's Deputy Fired

WESLACO – A Hidalgo County Sheriff’s deputy is no longer on the job.

In September, Emilio Zavala was arrested by McAllen police and accused of injury to a child.

Jena Palacios, a spokesperson for the Hidalgo County Sheriff Department, said he was indicted by a grand jury and has since been terminated.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra said the incident is not related to any duties with the sheriff’s office.
