Migrant Facing Charges for Falsely Claiming to be Parent
WESLACO – A migrant is facing charges for falsely claiming to be the father of a Honduran teen.
Santos Porfirio Torres, 30, was caught crossing the border Tuesday – he was traveling with the teen.
Border Patrol says they suspect many will lie about being the parents to the children they bring across the border.
According to court documents, Torres was interviewed by a federal officer and admitted to obtaining a fraudulent document to show he was the father.
KRGV’s Valerie Gonzalez has the details.
