Thieves Steal From Small Community Church
PROGRESO – A Rio Grande Valley church is working to stay positive after thieves broke-in.
Father Amador Garza says two weeks ago on Sunday, thieves ransacked the church office and ripped apart every drawer.
“All they wanted was money because that is all they took," says Fr. Garza.
He says the losses totaled more than $1,000 for the small community church.
We are still waiting to hear back from Progreso police, as Fr. Garza waits to hear back about charges he wants to file.
"People in this community really have to get together and do something about this. I mean you just can't sit here and allow yourself to be vandalized and broke into," he says.
Fr. Garza says he hopes cameras and metal doors bring the Holy Spirit Catholic Church a stronger sense of security.
