PALMVIEW – Palmview police are awaiting a search warrant to move forward in a homicide investigation. 

The scene at a mobile home park on G and G Dr is still active and information is currently limited.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS is told that one person has been detained.

Palmview Police Sgt. Arnold Sepulveda said officers were responding to a report a person made at their station about suspicious activity around 3 p.m. When officers arrived, they questioned a man who was getting into his vehicle. The man was taken into custody shortly after.

Sepulveda mentioned that the person detained is not being labeled as a suspect. 

"He's still detained. We haven't gotten an update from investigators that are making contact with them, that he has transitioned into a suspect," said Sepulveda.

The relationship between the man in custody and the woman who was found dead in a mobile home is unknown.

Hidalgo County Crime Scene Investigations Unit will be assisting Palmview police with processing the area, but neither agency has yet started. They are waiting on a search warrant to be able to comb through the crime scene. 

At the moment, the identities of the victim and the person of interest are not being released.

The investigation is ongoing.
