1 in Custody after Edinburg Neighborhood Evacuated

EDINBURG - Police in Edinburg said a grenade found in a neighborhood is no longer a threat. Officers also have one person in custody, 

Edinburg police said their narcotics unit was executing a search warrant at a home on Mahl Street Thursday afternoon. When officers went inside the home, they saw a grenade.

The police chief said they decided to evacuate the entire block on 4th Avenue and Mahl Street.

The McAllen bomb squad was called to the area. They determined the grenade wasn’t a threat and cleared the scene.

The police chief did not elaborate on the arrest that was made.
