11-Year-Old Head-On Crash Victim Dies, DPS Says

UPDATE (9/20): An 11-year-old victim, one of four people hospitalized following a head-on crash in Hidalgo County, has died, according to state authorities.

Department of Public Safety Spokesman Lt. Johnny Hernandez says the boy was not wearing a seatbelt when the vehicle he was in crashed head-on into a silver car north of Edinburg. 

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

NEAR EDINBURG – Department of Public Safety troopers are on the scene of a head-on collision in Hidalgo County. 

A spokesperson for the agency tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS two cars collided head-on Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of Ingle Road and N Flores Street.

DPS says an 11-year-old occupant of a brown car was found unresponsive but first responders performed CPR. He and the driver of the vehicle were taken to the hospital.

Two women from the other vehicle are also being treated at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance.
