SULLIVAN CITY – Two people who crossed into the country illegally through Sullivan City are now in federal custody.

The police chief called in Border Patrol after he says the migrants tried to get inside his unmarked unit.

Chief Richard Ozuna said when the incident happened Thursday, the doors to his unit were unlocked.

“Their eyes were so big and they were surprised because I was in uniform. And they just asked for water,” Ozuna described.

The police chief is now warning drivers to make sure their doors are locked at all times.
