WESLACO – Two people are behind bars for allegedly stealing from a hospice care patient.

On March 7, the Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies met with a woman who reported her uncle had passed away and that he had jewelry stolen from him. The uncle was in hospice care at Aurora’s House in Weslaco when he died on Feb. 9.

Sheriff’s investigators said an employee of Aurora’s House, 47-year-old Teresa Botello, and her boyfriend, 35-year-old Angel Ivan Gonzalez, stole the missing item and pawned it in McAllen.

The jewelry was recovered and both suspects were arrested and charged with theft.
