35-Year-Old Brownsville Man Convicted for Smuggling Meth

BROWNSVILLE – A jury in a federal case convicted a 35-year-old man for conspiracy and methamphetamine smuggling.

In Feb. 2017, Jesus Yzaguirre Jr. attempted to cross through the Brownsville port of entry with a van he says he borrowed.

Officials discovered more than 65 pounds of methamphetamine hidden within the vehicle.

Yzaguirre’s sentencing is set for June 20.

He faces life in prison as well as a $10 million fine.
