49-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Inside Elsa Apartment

ELSA – Police and the Texas Rangers are at the scene of a homicide in Elsa. The victim is identified as 49-year-old Sandra Beltran.

Officers responded Friday morning to a housing complex located on West Ciro Caseres across the Mario Leal City Park. Elsa Police Chief Primitivo Rodriguez said someone called them around 11:30 a.m. after discovering the victim's body. 

The surrounding area is cordoned off while investigators continue assessing the scene.

Rodriguez said the 49-year-old was killed in her apartment.

According to Department of Public Safety Lt. Johhny Hernandez, Beltran’s 4-year-old grandchild was inside the apartment when the crime happened. He was not injured, also managed to escape and is now safe. 

John F. Kennedy Elementary was put on lock down for a few hours as police searched for the suspect. 

No arrests have been made.

The suspect took off in the Beltran’s car and crashed it in a nearby canal. Police said they will provide an update once they’ve identify the suspect in the case.

Neither police nor the Texas Rangers have given details as to how exactly Beltran was killed or a possible motive in the case.
