ALTON – Alton police believe the cause of death for a teen found dead over the weekend was accidental drowning.

The preliminary autopsy report for Elias Barajas indicates the cause of death to be drowning. The case was initially treated as a homicide investigation.

The 18-year-old was reported missing Saturday.

His body was recovered Sunday at the 1500 block of Mayberry Boulevard.
