HARLINGEN - CHANNEL 5's Brandon Ortega reports on the final round of the South Texas Junior Golf Classic.

It's the 35th edition of the tournament.  This is the final group for the boys.  Lyford grad Jacob Serna makes par on seventeen.  That would give him a one shot lead heading into the final hole.  Right behind him was Hanna's Santiago Garcia.  Serna bogeyed eighteen.  So Garcia had a huge opportunity.

He was on the eighteenth green in  two.  He needed a birdie to win or par to force a playoff.  On the way, and one time!  Talk about clutch.  A birdie to win the tournament.  It was the first South Texas Junior title for Garcia.  What a way to end it.

(SANTIAGO GARCIA:"I've been here like seven years never won I've always won the long drive. Never won the tournament and this year I didn't win the long drive. This year I ended up winning so I mean it feels really good because it's a classic tournament in the valley, and I'm from the valley so it's good to represent and I'll be back next year.")

(JACOB SERNA:"Our goal today was to just shoot under make him play his best and walking off that last hole he told me man I gave you all I got you know what I mean and coming from him you know that means a lot.")

Brownsville Veterans' Julie Lucio took won the girls title by 20 strokes.  Lucio finished two over par overall with back to back rounds of 73. Mission's Mia Lerma took second.
