BROWNSVILLE – Brownsville police are continuing their four-month long search for a missing person.

Ramiro Avila was last seen four months ago dressed in women’s clothing. Police said the family dropped Avila off downtown on Jefferson and 12th streets.

Avila’s family reached out to the police after several of their missing person posters were vandalized.

Brownsville police spokesperson, Jose Trevino, said the department is investigating.

“You know ultimately these signs might fall off, so as far as somebody intentionally and physically taking them down? We didn’t locate anybody yet,” he said.

Trevino said business owners have the option to remove the signs as they see fit. He said weather conditions may also prevent a sign from staying up.

Brownsville police plan to continue to run surveillance on the signs as they can.
