MCALLEN – Business in McAllen is booming during the holidays.

Eva Perez is the manager of Milly's Glam in downtown McAllen. She said even though the holiday season just began, they've been busy.

"We have been seeing a lot more movement. During the year, it was kind of slower," said Perez.

Perez said they set goals and they've been reaching those numbers each day.

She said last year's holiday season was a different story, due to the exchange rate of the peso.

"Last year, because of the dollar and all that stuff that was going on. But this year, yeah we do see a change. We see that it's going up and we see more people coming down from Mexico," said Perez.

Perez said they rely on the customers from across the border to come shop downtown.

"Mostly here downtown, we do get more people from Mexico coming down. That's basically where our customers are from," said Perez.

Perez said they've hired more employees at both stores, to help with the busy holiday season they're expecting in downtown McAllen.

"It's going really good," said Perez.

She said they hope the exchange rate stays the same, bringing customers in to shop for Christmas gifts.
