BROWNSVILLE – The Cameron County Sheriff’s Department says three military surplus vehicles were purchased with hurricane season in mind.

County officials say the addition to their fleet cost a total of $22,000.

They say it was a bargain they couldn’t refuse, especially since they foresee they will help rescue hundreds of families in time of natural disasters.

A county judge tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS they expect to get at least 15 years of use out of the vehicles.
