Cameron Co. Suspect Dies While in Custody
BROWNSVILLE – Autopsy results are pending for a Cameron County suspect who died in custody.
Cameron County Sheriff Chief Deputy Gus Reyna said the suspect became unresponsive at the county jail Thursday before he was booked.
He was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
Preliminary autopsy reports show a small plastic bag was found in the suspect’s stomach.
The suspect was arrested earlier this week ago from criminal trespass, evading arrest, resisting arrest and assaulting a peace officer.
