City of McAllen Receives Money from CDC
MCALLEN - The city of McAllen is getting $188,000 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The money will be used to aid the city's study of the Zika Virus.
McAllen Health Director Josh Ramirez tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS the city is working to find out if mosquitoes might be resistant to some of the chemicals used to neutralize them.
The city of McAllen is joined by a number of universities in Texas in this research. The University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley is joining this effort, in addition to addition Zika research the university is doing with the CDC.
