Covid-19 impact on the economy
The City of Brownsville was selected to take part in a study aiming to find economic shortfalls and protect vulnerable residents.
Mo Katner, director of state and local initiatives for New American Economy said the lack of healthcare access had has has an impact on the economy.
"And I'll add that it's not even just not having access to healthcare," Katner said. "When you don't have access to vacation or sick leave they're less like to - even when they're not feeling well - are less likely to stay at home, to quarantine, to make sure that they are not having contact with other people."
