MCALLEN – A cleanup is underway at Oval Park outside the McAllen Convention Center.

City officials say the big pond was also drained to remove the sludge and mud that usually gets clogged into pumps.

We’re told fish were removed in a careful manner.

Crews expect to have the pond reopened in a week to 10 days’ time.
