Edinburg CISD Student Left Behind During Field Trip

EDINBURG – Edinburg CISD police are investigating how a student was left behind during a field trip.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS learned a teacher later realized the student was missing and called both the restaurant and police.

Officers picked up the student and brought him back to the school. The school said parents were notified immediately.

The district did not say which school the student went to. However, they did respond to us with the following statement, which reads:

The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District is investigating an incident where a student was accidentally left behind at a restaurant during a field trip.

Within minutes, a teacher realized a student had been left behind and quickly notified the restaurant and the Edinburg CISD Police Department. Officers were dispatched and brought the student back to the school district shortly thereafter. The student’s parents were notified of the situation. 

The incident is currently under investigation. The District takes any situation involving the security of any student or staff member seriously. The safety of students and staff is always the District’s top priority.
