MCALLEN – Increasing factors are leading to the departure of teachers from Rio Grande Valley school districts.

KRGV’s Valerie Gonzalez learned it’s a symptom of recent loss of enrollment and funding.

In 2014, 184 teachers stopped working for McAllen Independent School District. Some retired, moved or resigned.

One teacher we spoke with says in spite of her highly-scored reviews, she was asked to resign or she would receive a non-renewal by the district.

We reached out to McAllen ISD for more than a week for a response to the information but no interview was given.

Watch the video above for more information.
