McALLEN - McAllen Memorial, considered as a wounded team after a two-game losing streak in the pre-district, bounced back to run the table in 30-6A on Friday night.  The Mustangs won the Game of the Week 60-21 over Rowe to win the district title by two games in a six-game district schedule.  The Mustangs joined Vela and San Benito as winners on Friday that claimed undisputed 6A football trophies here in the Valley.  Vela blanked Economedes 52-0 to sweep 31-6A.  San Benito hammered Harlingen 53-0 to roll unbeaten through 32-6A.

Brownsville Veterans can claim the undisputed 32-5A crown with a win Saturday over Donna.  Mercedes waits for the outcome, one-half game back of the Chargers.  In 31-5A, Mission Veterans and Sharyland earned pieces of the title.  The Patriots defeated Valley View 21-14.  Sharyland outlasted Rio Grande City 32-24.  It'll be a three-way tie for the championship if Nixon takes care of Martin on Saturday.

In two other showdowns, Lyford won 16-3A, Division 1 by downing San Diego 38-16.  La Villa was outscored by Three Rivers 34-14 in the heads-up battle for 16-2A, Division 1 bragging rights.
