NEAR BROWNSVILLE – Funding for additional fence gates along the existing border wall in Cameron County has been approved.

Money is secured but there’s still no timeline for the actual construction and installation of those gates.

The 35 fence gates will be used to plug up gaps in the existing border fence, which is now about 10 years old.

The money for this particular project will not come out of the money lawmakers recently set aside for the border wall system.
