Gang member charged in death of Houston high school student
HOUSTON (AP) - Authorities say a gang member has been charged in the death of a Houston high school student who was fatally shot near his campus during his lunch hour last year and resulted in the campus being locked down.
Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced Friday that Kendrick Johnson has been charged with murder in the November death of 18-year-old Delindsey Mack, a student at Lamar High School.
Ogg says the 19-year-old has also been charged with murder in the September fatal shooting of 24-year-old Kenneth Roberson in southeast Houston.
Ogg says Johnson is a gang member and the shootings were related to gang violence.
Authorities say Johnson is already jailed on an unrelated aggravated robbery charge.
Court records did not list an attorney for Johnson on the murder charges.
