HARLINGEN – The Harlingen Police Department Major Crimes Unit arrested and charged a man with multiple counts related to sexual assault and child pornography.

Back on Jan. 15 the unit received information of an aggravated sexual assault of a child that may have occurred. The unit began their investigation.

After gathering evidence and statements, the suspect was identified as 42-year-old Jorge Alberto Rodriguez from Harlingen.

Rodriguez was arrested on Jan. 26. He was charged with four counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, six counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of sexual performance by a child.

Rodriguez’s bond was set at $9,300,000.
