WESLACO – New court documents obtained by CHANNEL 5 NEWS, reveal a Hidalgo County judge has been charged with “bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds.”

Judge Rodolfo Delgado currently presides over the Hidalgo County 93rd District Court.

According to an FBI affidavit, federal agents have been investigating Delgado since November 2016.

The paperwork accuses the judge of accepting bribes in exchange for “favorable judicial consideration on cases pending in his courtroom.”

The affidavit says the FBI used a “confidential human source” to gain evidence against Delgado. That FBI source, who is a licensed Texas attorney, told investigators Delgado was paid “multiple times dating back several years in exchange for future favorable rulings on criminal cases.”

The source identified at least two cases within the last two years in which “Delgado placed clients on bond after payment of the bribe."

Delgado's bond was set at $100,000.
