BROWNSVILLE – Hundreds of fish were caught in an illegal Mexican fishing net off the shores of Boca Chica Beach.

Texas Game wardens say fishermen may be stealing from U.S. waters to sell them back as imports.

"Over the course of three weeks, we have seized over 10,000 feet of gill net,” says Cpt. Luis Sosa with Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Sosa says the latest gill net was taken about a mile from the shores of Boca Chica Beach and a mile from the boundary of the waters between the U.S. and Mexico.

He encourages people to report any illegal fishing activities.
