Identity Protection Warning for Holiday Shoppers

WESLACO – With holiday shopping in full swing, experts are warning you to protect your personal information.

The Identity Theft Resource Center reports an increase in identity theft cases each year, most of those occurring during the holidays.

KRGV’s Cecilia Gutierrez spoke with a woman whose holiday plans last year were turned around after her credit card information leaked.

“I was online shopping a lot and my card did get compromised,” says McAllen resident Kimberly Fulmer. “There were people making charges using my information.”

The president for Better Business Bureau of South Texas, Dolores Salinas, says there are ways to protect yourself from identity theft this holiday season.
