IRVING – Police in Irving said two people are dead after a shooting at North Lake College, a Dallas-area community college.

On their Twitter account, officers reported, "We have what appears to be one victim deceased & the shooter has committed suicide." Police said there doesn't appear to be a continuing threat, but they will keep searching the campus to make sure it's safe.

Officers first reported an active shooter situation at the Irving campus, shortly before noon. The campus went into lockdown.

On Facebook, students were advised to "(p)roceed with others to the nearest room and barricade and/or lock yourselves in the room. Wait in place for further instructions from police. If you are not on campus, STAY AWAY for your own safety."

Campus officials have since announced the campus is closed and all classes have been canceled for the rest of the day.
