MCALLEN – A McAllen dentist is warning the public of the dangers of obtaining dental procedures through underground dentists.

The warning comes following a post found on the Facebook group for La Pulga Online. The post shows a man advertising dental services to people.

The services range from cleaning, to wisdom tooth removals, even root canals. Prices start at $25.

Dr. Jeffrey Alvarado said the post concerns him. He said it's putting the public in situations that can medically compromise them.

"Dental procedures are very invasive. They can lead to a lot of complications and so we want to be ready to handle this in an office. I'm not too sure how they would be handled in a home," said Dr. Alvarado.

Options exist for the low-income and uninsured. Clinics for the low-income and uninsured are available.

Some of them include: Nuestra Clinica del Valle, Hope Family Health Center, Valley Care Clinics, El Milagro Clinic and UTRGV Primary Care Clinic.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS did reach out to the person who posted about the dental services on La Pulga.

The person who answered the phone hung up when we mentioned we were with CHANNEL 5 NEWS.

It is a felony offense for someone to practice to dentistry in the state of Texas without a license.
