Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Drug Trafficking
BROWNSVILLE – A 33-year-old man will be spending the next four years in federal prison for drug trafficking.
In November 2017, Jorge Barrera pled guilty to the charge.
Barrera was caught after authorities conducted a controlled delivery of a vehicle packed with more than 15 pounds of cocaine that was seized at the Brownsville port of entry.
Surveillance agents delivered the car to a drop off location in McAllen.
They observed Barrera park next to the vehicle. He then entered the vehicle and attempted to drive away.
That’s when federal agents took him into custody.
