Migrant Toddler Struck in Hit-and-Run in Matamoros Dies
MATAMOROS, TAMAULIPAS – A migrant toddler died after he was struck in a hit-and-run incident in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
The 2-year-old boy was hit Oct. 20 by the driver of a Cherokee SUV who fled the scene.
He and his family are indigenous migrants from the Southern Mexican state of Chiapas.
They were waiting in Mexico to request asylum in the United States.
An investigation into the driver was opened by the Tamaulipas Attorney General's Office.
The office confirmed the boy died Sunday, Oct. 27.
