MISSION – The city mayor of Mission says they recently hired a consultant who specializes in cartel activity.

Mission Mayor Armando O'Cana says the city received a presidential permit from the government 40 years ago to build the Madero International Bridge.

He says not enough progress on the completion of the bridge has been made in the eyes of the U.S. government.

O'Cana says he recently received a letter from the State Department threatening to revoke the permit by 2021 if more progress isn’t taken.

He says part of that progress is the recent hire of a consultant who specializes in cartel activity.
