WESLACO – The Valley AIDS Council said the number of HIV cases in the Rio Grande Valley is growing.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reported there were approximately 2,560 people in the region living with the disease.

Officials said the number increased to 3,110 and stressed the importance of getting tested.

The Valley AIDS Council has offices in McAllen, Brownsville and Harlingen.
