‘Not Guilty’ Plea in Drug Smuggling Case Involving Baby

BROWNSVILLE – A mother and daughter pleaded not guilty in a drug smuggling case involving a baby.

The baby was strapped in the car seat of a vehicle where the drugs were allegedly found.

The child’s mother and grandmother are accused of trying to smuggle nearly 300 pounds of marijuana.

They were busted near the river in Brownsville by Border Patrol agents.

Jury selection for their trial is expected to start July 1.
