Off-Duty Border Patrol Agent Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash in Webb Co.
NEAR OILTON – Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating the death of an off-duty Border Patrol agent in a two-vehicle crash in Webb County.
The crash happened on Highway 359, four miles east of Oilton, Tuesday evening.
Preliminary information suggests the driver of a 2013 Hyundai Veloster going eastbound on the highway crossed the roadway into oncoming traffic and hit a semi-trailer.
Investigators say the driver of the car, identified as Jorge Antonio Ornelas, 38, of Mission, died on impact.
The driver of the semi-trailer was taken to a Laredo hospital with unknown injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
