SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – An assault on a South Padre Island lifeguard has county leaders on high alert.

They tell CHANNEL 5 NEWS the reported sexual assault happened while she was on duty at Isla Blanca Park.

KRGV’s Daisy Martinez reached out to the Cameron County Parks director. In order to protect the victim’s identity, officials couldn’t give further details.

However, they say they are already looking at what needs to be done to keep the areas safe.
