Officials Urge Beachgoers to Use Life Jackets When Engaging in Water Sports
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – Authorities are stressing the importance of using a life vest while on a kayak following the discovery of a body at a Cameron County beach.
Investigators are trying to determine the identity of a woman who they believe drowned before her body washed ashore north of Beach Access 6.
Miguel Cruz, an avid kayaker, says despite his experience he always wears a vest and carries a whistle and a radio in case of emergencies.
KRGV’s Daisy Martinez reached out to a Texas Parks and Wildlife warden for tips on how to better prepare before heading out on the water.
